The 2019 Artists in Residence Summer Series features weekly residences from local artists who will be on site to work on their creative projects, and visitors may go to the casemate to meet and interact with the artists, ask questions about their project, and observe how the artists go about their creative work.

This week's artists are Alex Good, a composer, and Jennifer Wilson, a textile artist.

Alex Good is a music educator, performer, and sound designer. The founder of Alex Good Music, he provides voice, piano, and music theory teachings to students of all ages. Good also directs opera and musical theatre productions, and composes symphonic and electronic film scores, having done so for Maritime productions such as P.O.V., Owl River Runners, and We Ae Characters Incorporated.

During his residency, Good will be creating a short collection of musical works that capture the dangers of climate change and the loss of trees to industrialization.

Jennifer Wilson is a recent graduate of the New Brunswick College of Craft & Designs’ Textile and Fashion programs, specializing in natural fibres and fabric manipulation. She has presented her work at numerous NBCCD shows, including the 2018 and 2019 Annual Fashion Shows, and won an award in 2017 from the Fredericton Guild of Fibre Artists for her technically challenging work.

During her residency, Wilson will be creating a textile art wall hanging that incorporates a multitude of natural materials, with a focus on the vegetation that grows on trees.
